The Lowdown: Wii

  • - Cheap n' cheerful
  • - Interesting controller
  • - Aimed at youngsters and families, not a traditional console
  • - Pretty shabby graphics
  • - Teeny tiny!

You could totally wank off with a Wiimote. Can you do that with a 360 controller? I DON'T THINK SO!!!

Not worth it :( If it wasn't for Brawl, this system would not be good at all! (except for kids)

Now, I'm not saying Wii is a bad console, but it's definitely not living up to its potential, and Nintendo has a really bad habit of using 4-year-old hardware on new releases.

Not every Wii game has great gameplay.. in fact a very small minority of them do.

The Lowdown: XBox 360

  • - Middle of the road
  • - Fantastic online play
  • - The "man's" console, aimed at gamers who love to be all masculine
  • - Good graphics and sound in an inexpensive package
  • - Funky, but heavy wireless controller

Comments: XBox 360

The Wii makes a better dust collector

WAYYY better online.. its amazing. Wii has nothing on the online.

but you want to know what the wii has? bowling, and brawl. which is why me and my bro let it collect dust while we bought the 360.

the wii is just for kids and quick party games that people can play one or two times, not for playing often!

True, the wii is entertaining, but it has a limmited game base, this is where the xbox360 kicks it's behind past pluto.

I vote 360! It has better games and can be cheaper.
XBOX 360 = £159.99
Wii = £189.99

@Sheldon: Yeah, I currently own a Wii, and I'm getting a 360 soon. I've always stood behind the "Wii60" combo.

Arcalyth
I agree that the Xbox 360 is way too pricey for the quality of the product. Having owned a grand total of zero consoles since the SNES, I would've been outraged if I'd gotten an Xbox 360 and then gotten the red-ring of death (color+noun+death, something Microsoft seems to get a kick out of).

Now, even saying that, I would still rather have an Xbox 360 over a Wii, simply due to the difference in game quality and the fact that Nintendo and hardcore-gaming simply do not go together in my opinion.

I do love the Wii's controller though...
If I had my way, I'd have both consoles; Xbox 360 for serious gaming time and the Wii just to kick back and chill.

Xbox 360, on the other hand, is way too pricey for the quality of the product you're getting. $350 for the pro package, anywhere from $40 to $60 for games, $50 or so for another controller, $50 for a year of Xbox Live, even more for various useful accessories (play n' charge kit, etc). If the Xbox is nowhere near a router, you need to shell out a bunch of money for a wireless adapter.

Now, let's see... when you go and spend over $700 for all that stuff including games, and you only get 6 months of play time because you get red-ring'd, then you have to wait weeks to get a REFURBISHED console that might not even work... not worth the money.

When the thing works, it's great though. My vote goes to 360 because it has better games and Wii is still seriously lacking. Maybe it will pick up the pace for real gamers and not just soccer moms and little kids.

This is coming from a Wii owner.

I have to say I am enjoying my 360 more than my Wii. Wii has some great stuff though.
